Meet Carisa
I’m Carisa Bishop, a therapist, supervisor, trainer, and facilitator dedicated to helping others learn, heal, and grow. I founded ThriveMind Psychotherapy with the belief that every person deserves a safe and compassionate space to process trauma and build resilience.

My passion for learning is evident in the hundreds of hours I’ve invested in advanced training with top minds in the field of trauma, including Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Dr. Eric Gentry, and Dr. Jennifer Sweeton. These experiences allow me to bring cutting-edge trauma treatment approaches into my work with clients.

At ThriveMind, I see therapy as a collaborative partnership. With compassion and clinical excellence, I work alongside clients to unravel trauma, understand emotions, and rewrite stories of pain into ones of possibility.

Training and Experience
Over more than a decade in the mental health field, I’ve developed expertise across a breadth of treatment approaches — including neuropsychotherapy, EMDR, CPT, TF-CBT, DBT, and IFS. This diverse training allows me to craft a personalized path to healing for each person I work with.

I am an Advanced Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist and provide supervision for clinicians pursuing trauma specialization. My professional journey has taken me from direct clinical practice to training and mentorship, always with the goal of expanding access to high-quality, trauma-informed care.

My Approach
Therapy with me is collaborative and adaptive. Some sessions may focus on trauma processing through EMDR or CPT, while others emphasize skill-building using CBT or DBT techniques. With children and adolescents, I may incorporate TF-CBT or play therapy.

At the heart of my approach is a person-centered philosophy: I believe therapy should empower you, not define you. I tailor each session to your needs and goals, while ensuring the process feels safe, respectful, and effective.

Beyond the Therapy Room
Outside of my work as a therapist, I value creativity, community, and time in nature. These practices sustain me and reflect the same balance I encourage in my clients. I believe healing extends beyond therapy — into the way we live, connect, and create meaning in our lives.
